What are moderator tools?
The productivity or success of a brainstorming session is to a great extent based on the moderator and how he/she can facilitate the entire session. Having said that, the moderator himself/herself would be able to perform at a much higher levels of efficiency by having tools which could help in – issue analysis, idea management/improvement, and idea analysis. EoD has created a suite of such tools to vastly enhance the quality of the brainstorming process.

Do I have to use the external solvers?
No! we have only provided you a database of external solvers, whom you may or may not want to connect with in your brainstorming process .

Go to TOP

How do I know that the external solvers I invite will participate in the brainstorming?
There is no guarantee that the people who you invite (ie outside of your organization) will participate in the brainstorming process. This could be because of a number of factors, including the nature of problem or issue that you are brainstorming, the reward that you are providing for, and off course the time convenience. .

Do I need to alter the agreement (NDA) that comes up as a part of the registration process?
We strongly recommend that you DONOT alter any portions of that until and unless you are very sure. .

Do I get to choose who will eventually get to see the complete transcript of the brainstorming?
Yes, you could choose the people who you feel should be receiving the transcript of the session. By default the transcript will be available only for the moderator.

Who can be a moderator?
Well, there are no specific requirements in terms of education or background, for being a moderator. But, having some prior exposure to conducting brainstorming session, in the offline model, will surely be of great help. However, if one doesnot have enough exposure for being a moderator, he/she can still act as a moderator, and make use of the extensive on-line help that has been provided on the site.

What is the idle size of the group?
Like all other group processes, brainstorming also becomes ineffective when the group is too small or when the group is too large. Ideally, a group of 12-20 would help in conducting a effective brainstorming session (online or offline) and in generating adequate ideas.

Does EurekaOnDemand decide  which solution is to be adopted?
No, EurekaOnDemand does not directly participate or influence the decision making process.  However, one of the features in the portal is to provide for what is known as "peer evaluation of solutions" that is for a given problem, of the multiple solutions that may be put up, the peer groups shall "vote" on a solution.  The result so arrived, is not binding on the organization which has posted the problem.  This is just an additional service that the organization may wish to choose for.

How do you ensure that the solutions I provide are taken, but not acknowledged/aided?

Our organization does everything possible to ensure that these situations never arise, -  when you have spent your effort to develop a solution which is taken by an organization and at the end you don’t get paid for it.  Our current methodology for hedging against such eventualities involves

  1. Declaration of Protection and Payments for Intellectual Property by the client organizations:  Every organization which becomes a solution sourcing entity on EurekaOnDemand will be signing a DPPIP agreement (click here to download copy).  The agreement, binds organization legally (more importantly morally and ethically) to protect and pay for all intellectual property that they may receive from people like you.
  2. Audit:  On a select basis we will be carrying out an audit of organization to check / to ensure that they are adhering to the DPPIP conditions, finally
  3.  We have a tracking mechanism which ensures that organizations are monitored for their problem posting and solutions taking process and appropriately flagged when issues from user community (crowd) are thrown up.

How do you ensure that my IPR is protected?
As part of the contracting process, organization which are going to be using EurekaOnDemand will also be signing up a IPR protection document.  This will ensure that if the idea or the solution that you provide is patentable, then the organization is under an obligation to ensure that due processes are followed.  On a case to case basis, the assigning rights of the patents shall be notified at the beginning of the solution seeking cycle.

Most of the problems that are targeted to be posted and solved on EurekaOnDemand are those that may lie outside the purview of Intellectual Property related matters.  However, should the individual feel that the solution he/she provides has an IPR dimension to it, they may mention it accordingly in their solution sheet. And in such a case, the organization is first asked about the same, that is their willingness to work with an IPR kind of solution.  And if the organization feels that they would like to do so, they would take it appropriately with the individual.

What is the mode of payment?
Presently the individual (Opportunity Seeker) will be paid by DD (Demand Draft).  We will shortly be providing for other payment methods on the site.

What is an offline model?
There are some problems for which it may be necessary that the organization would like to use some help in putting the solution to work.  For these kind of situations, an offline model, that is an individual who would like to work with the organization by being in eye-to-eye contact (with customer/organization) would be necessary.  You may choose at the time of registering if you are interested in such a model.

Go to TOP

How do I get compensated for an offline model?
The compensation in an offline model will vary from a case to case basis and shall be intimated separately, and is usually negotiated between the Solution Provider and the organization (Solution Seeker)

Go to TOP

How long does it usually take for a ‘closure’ – problem posting to solution?
Time taken for solution to get accepted will depend on posted date and deadline given by the provider while posting his problem.  It is within this time frame the entire process will work.
